Steelworks

As Scana Steel Björneborg AB has its own steelworks, it can supply its own ingots for forging. This supply of ingots forms the basis for the entire business. Our steel is well-known for its high quality, high-precision analyses and purity. These qualities, together with our flexible, customer-oriented production processes, result in significant external sales of steel ingots.

Our steelworks is scrap-based. The steel is arc furnace melted and then refined in ladle furnaces. The last stage in the process before the steel is cast is vacuum degassing in the ladle furnaces.

The steel is cast as ingots and these are exclusively bottom-poured.

Ingot weights: Between two and 72 tonnes

Maximum capacity: Approximately 95,000 tonnes per year
