Market and customers

Scana MTC is primarily in contact with customers within the oil and gas sector outside the Scana group. The company provides analysis, materials control, damage assessment, consultancy services, NDE services and heat treatment for steel materials.

Products and services

The company’s main products are: metallurgy services, NDE (non-destructive examinations), materials testing, welding techniques, corrosion, damage assessment, general materials advice, reclassification and heat treatment.

Within its segment, Scana MTC holds a unique position in Norway, not least due to our close relations with the steel manufacturer Scana Steel Stavanger. This gives Scana MTC a better overview and understanding of the materials. The company is experience an increasing need for its expertise in the market. Some larger companies do not possess the necessary expertise in-house, or they have outsourced it. In many ways, the market is therefore already there – and all we need to do is to improve and increase the understanding that materials technology is important.

In 2008 Scana MTC has increased the number of its employees, and the aim is to grow even more in 2009. Our largest customers in 2008 have included  Fabricom, Aker Solutions and the National Institute of Technology in Stavanger.

During 2008, the company has invested in the latest analysis equipment, new chemical analysis equipment and SEMs (Scanning Electron Microscope). Further investments during the year will improve the range of services offered by Scana MTC.

Scana MTC has a project-based collaboration with the University of Stavanger, NTNU and SINTEF to develop new types of materials and develop the company's products further. In Sweden, Scana MTC cooperates with the Swedish research environment through the Swedish Steel Producers’ Association.
