There is a long history of forging in Björneborg, with the first forge built in 1656. Ever since, Björneborg has been renowned for its high quality forgings.Scana Steel Björneborg is currently one of Europe´s leading producers of heavy open die forgings.
The company has its own steel plant, a modern forge with a "3600/4500" tonnes press, its own heat-treatment facility, and a well equipped machine shop. Scana Steel Björneborg is approved according to ISO 9001:2000.
The company is able to supply products up to 45 tonnes despatch weight, and with maximum length of 24 metres. Our customers include the oil and gas industries, shipbuilding, energy industry and manufacturers of heavy machinery.
As a member of the Scana Group, Scana Steel Björneborg has access to the resources and expertise of its sister companies who specialize in high and low alloy steels, forging and casting technology, and material testing.
